A compression check will show which valves are bent, first you would need to fit a new cambelt, there is only one tdc position, likewise only one cam position and pump position.

it is likely that it is not economically repairable. it is very likely to have multiple valves, guides and rockers broken or bent. there may also be physical damage to pistons, block and head.

If this is the GM 1.7 engine in either NA or low blow, they *usually* only snap the rockers, rather than bend the valves.

it will be the Isuzu engine in the Combo, I believe. I have seen the 1.7 GM break more than rockers when the cam belt goes: rockers, guides and valves. and even worse I had to pay to fix it !!!

Yup, on my 1.7 lpt (gm) I had 4 broken rockers, couple of bent valves & needed 2nd hand head as that had a crack between one of the in/out valve ports. Also a nice big valve imprint on one of the pistons but doesn't seem to affect things. Have heard some have been very lucky to get away with just broken rockers but not me. It was an enjoyable and not too expensive learning curve for DIYing. Great for running on veg so was worth doing.
