My BMW 330d has an (electric) heater to heat the coolant on cold mornings so that there is heat for the cabin within a few minutes - its plumbed into the heating system under the bonnet. On the 530d its powered by diesel intead of electricity (and you can then fit a timer to warm the coolant before you go out to start the car = no more de-icing).
My father has a Skoda pickup with the 1.9D engine, and the heat comes out of that pretty quickly, but we couldn't see whether it has a similar heater (and if so whether its electric or diesel powered).
Does anyone know?
