VX Astra 1.6 (2006) sxi, Petrol smell inside

If there was a leak, I would have expected *increased*, not reduced, petrol consumption, i.e. needing to refuel sooner... or is that what you actually meant?

But then again even a tiny leak with little effect on MPG would produce quite a strong smell.

OOps.. yes, I meant reduced miles to the gallon.. (must try to remember not everyone know what I mean.. lol)

there is never any smell outside the car, only inside, and it doesn't seem to build up when driving.. only when left for a time period..

someone elsewhere mentioned a carbon filter on a breather pipe, then they said it was under the bonnet, so if there was a problem there it would smell around the car..

anyhow am popping it to the dealers for them to look..

Thanks for noticing my goof, I think, if the car was doing more MPG, I'd probably not care at all! lol

As a fellow Astra owner it would be nice to know what the cause is, if the dealer manages to find and fix it.
