I'm sure there are more efficient ways to charge an iPod.Why on earth would a jump starter / compressor need a USB connection?

Costs virtually nothing extra to provide - so why not?
My ancient jump start pack gets used as a portable high current 12 volt supply more often than for its original use. And the compressor bit too.
Probably, but I know someone with this very unit who takes it camping to power a netbook and GPS unit from the USB together. Says it works well.
USB ports are very handy for charging all sorts of things like mobile phones, my GPS has a USB socket.
Computer bits like fans, lights, etc, good stuff.
Its not as silly as it may seem.
