02 Miata Won't Start

I have an '02 Miata with very low mileage (22K) that suddenly won't start, and am at a total loss. Over the winter I forgot to unplug the battery, and was greeted with one that was dead as a doornail and unrechargeable once it warmed up. 5 years for the original battery...I've seen better, but oh well.

After replacing the battery, she ran fine for several weeks in late March and early April and then suddenly would not start the other morning.

Symptoms: New battery appears fine and tested. All interior lights bright, etc.... Turn the key over and nothing (not a sound). All interior lights die. Wait a minute or two and all interior lights, etc...come back to full brightness.

Gas tank is full and the battery appears good. Any ideas?

A master of my own stupidity. Maybe if I had tightened back on the terminal connector solidly, I wouldn't have this problem. It must have jiggled off through the wonderful pothole filled roads that define NW Missouri, and was hanging on literally by about 1 mm of connected metal (enough to power lights, but nothing else). 5 twists of the wrench and she works great :)

Here's on for the idiot file.

Don't feel bad we've all pulled one of those type of things. Many never even admit it!

Enjoy, Chris

Ahh, come on, you've pulled more than one of those things, haven't you? I pull one of those type of things almost daily, just not always with a car.

Two or three names here come to mind immediately. ;-)
