I recently replaced my '93 MX5 with a new 2003 version. I noticed the oil filter is even harder to get at on the new car. Any tips on how to replace the oil filter? I have a new "filter wrench".
Thanks,
B.K.

How could they have made it any worse? That's got to be annoying,
Chris
92BB&TI have heard, but not personally experienced, that turning the wheels almost to the extreme outwards means one can snake a skinny arm up the space thus created and actually reach the oil filter.
Many owners have installed one of the many oil filter relocation kits available.
I pay my trusty Mazda dealer to change the oil. It costs $25 Canadian (about
2 cents US :D ) and I don't get messy."Nora" wrote in news:L8xpb.9347$ snipped-for-privacy@charlie.risq.qc.ca:
I have the same problem with my 2002 SE. With ABS and AC it is all but impossible to change the filter from the top. I find if I lie on the ground and reach up from behind the front passenger wheel, I can spin the filter off/on and use a wrench if necessary.
Works for me.

How hard is it to get to from behind the *rear* passenger wheel?
;-)
