Gear knob

Sorta hate to admit this but I'm a sucker for those wooden gear-shift knobs you can put on yer Miata. I'd like to get one of these things, but I first would like to know if replacing the old one can be done by an idiot. Do they merely screw on and off?

Yep. I drill and tap pool balls, myself. They make perfect gear shift knobs for my hand...

Larry, never thought of that! One could actually make a shift knob out of anything...!

Yep. Some of them are screwed on pretty tightly. Some of the fancy wood special edition knobs have setscrews, but not the basic black plastic knob.

Yes, I managed to do it. Yes, they [simply] unscrew [both ways]
