Hand Brake Release Indicator Switch

Where is this switch located. My hand brake light is on all the time now. It was intermittant last year, but now it stays on. Guess it's time to replace it, but I don't know where to start. I'm guessing it's near the hand brake lever. This is a 1990 Miata.

It's on the handle, down near the pivot point. The plastic that covers the lever is actually two pieces that can be unsnapped and separated, revealing the the rather simple switch which simply grounds the circuit. I'm guessing either the wire has come loose from the switch and is touching surrounding metal, or insulation has worn off the wire somewhere. It could also be that there's something preventing the brake lever from going all the way down.

I think a low fluid level in the master cylinder will also trigger that light. Check that first.
