After my '92 Miata warms up a bit, it stumbles and misfires when I give it gas below 2000 RPM. It starts OK, and runs OK when cold, and idles fine and runs OK at higher RPM. Even from idle, a little throttle before engaging the clutch results in hesitation and stumbling for a second or so before it comes to life and allows me to release the clutch. Any ideas?

I would check the plug wires first. Do you know when they were last replaced?

This happened to a buddy of mine and we did all the following:
- Plug wires/Plugs
- Idle/air adjustment screw (see miata.net for procedures)
- Clean the Throttle Body w/throttle body cleaner, not carb cleaner
- Mass Air Flow sensor readings - this cured it but not for the reasons one might think. One retaining clip had broken off and the connector had slowly worked it's way loose on one side. As soon as we snugged it up, problem solved. It needed all the other things anyway so it wasn't time wasted but you might want to check that connection first (since it's free and takes five seconds). Usually driveability problems in the M1's are related to the plugs and plug wires.
