Miata.net recommending bogus escrow service Escrow.com

Jan 11, 2005 3 Replies

I recently purchased 4 Miata wheels from somebody (Aaron Lee) in the miata.net classifieds. Aaron gauranteed the wheels were true before the purchase was agreed to. But, three of them were bent (one rather badly). I had used Escrow.com based on Miata.net's recommendation, so I _thought_ I was only out the shipping and escrow fees.

Wrong. The check that Escrow.com sent me bounced. I'm out the entire purchase price, shipping (both ways) _and_ the escrow fee. Needless to say, I'm rather annoyed.

DON'T USE ESCROW.COM.

And don't buy anything from Aaron Lee of Monteray Park, CA.

It seems that

is a California registered company, so you should go to that state's consumer protection agency for help.

If this doesn't get straightened out by the end of business today, I will.

Escrow.com says their bank made a mistake causing their checks to bounce for a couple days last week. Supposedly, the check cleared yesterday on the second attempt.

It's prettly lame that Escrow.com made no attempt to contact me to let me know what was going on. I won't be using them again.
