Soft top cleaning

I have a 99 Jeep Wrangler with a soft top. I have found that Simple Green and a soft nylon brush works best at cleaning it just spray, scrub, and rinse. After it dries I use bestop protectant. Before I did this I thought I had a black roof. Turned out it was grey. Nothing else touched it like Simple Green.

It is a great cleaner, I especially like the fact that it's biodegradable. It's been my wheel and tire cleaner of choice for ages too. Chris

I use Simple Green with a Black & Decker Scum Buster (normally used to clean shower walls). The abrasive pads do not damage the top, and your arm doesn't get tired.

you are talking about vinyl tops right? i think it is too aggressive for fabric tops, even if heavily diluted. i have used simple green diluted less than 30:1 as the directions suggest and found that it left a film behind on the car. for cleaning my cloth top i have found success with raggtopp brand cleaner and waterproof products... they also make a version for vinyl tops that is highly regarded. amazon sells it among many other places.
