Many years of 2 wheeled defensive riding will do that for you and I believe it translates over very well into how to stay alive in a Miata! In any car for that matter but even more in our little cars!

On the fog question, you have to remember that if you simply turn on fogs, you don't necessarily have tail lights on. That's the key there. They're not saying that having fog lights on is wrong or bad but just that 1) you don't use high beams and 2) you don't drive with only fog lights on, potentially getting hit from behind.

At least as often as not, I think it's a driver who wishes to impose his / her beliefs (you shouldn't break the speed limit) on other drivers and feels empowered to do so by the law 'being on their side' in their distorted little world. These are likely the same people who break countless other traffic laws on a daily basis, most likely, running red lights and stop signs because they cause too much inconvenience!

Thanks Miker for defending me. I say we split responsibility between me and the questionnaire (half bad question, half misinterpretation) but I still would argue in my defense that the question should be stated well, to avoid misinterpretation ;-)

Flashing green! That's crazy! Did you find out the correct meaning?

It's hard to guess the motives of such people. Once I finally got past one lane hog only to discover he was reading a book!

I think it had something to do with allowing straight transverses but no turns. And IIRC their crosswalks not only crossed all four streets squarely, but also had an "X" across the center of the intersection to walk that way as well. So all traffic all directions had to stop for pedestrian time.

Ditto. SWMBO coerced me into taking a trip by bus to a casino she and her sister and brother-in-law wanted to visit. The bus cruised the HOV lane of the freeway for quite a few miles when we left Phoenix and I was sitting up front on the right hand side which gave me a view into all the cars on all the lanes of the freeway. There was a large number of people reading books, newspapers, maps,???? while driving at 65+ mph! Not just one or two but maybe a dozen or more that I saw...

And more that I didn't!

What's unbelievable is that there are so few accidents.

Apparently the people who *can* drive while reading are the only ones who do it.

Frank, I'm sure you jest! I think these people should be off the road but I'm not sure how it could be done!

a very annoying behavior is the "slide, er right on red" laws. excellent laws,

wish they inforced the actual stopping part of it.

i started to drive more correctly a couple years ago when a friend noted that kids drive like their parents, so i am much more correct now. my daughter scared the *** outta me on her first stop sign.

now she just merges on to the highway w/o looking...im getting old quick :)

Peter, I survived 3 child drivers. And, keep in mind, we always drive our worst (don't know why) when our parents are watching (even us old folks).

I've seen that in US cities as well.

This is a recent introduction a a few intersections in downtown Toronto. When I was young, I lived in Saskatoon, and there were a half dozen "Scramble Corners" in that city's downtown. They are rare in Canada.

No less inventive as closing Times Square and Herald Square in NYC to vehicular traffic! Crazy Americans (tongue firmly planted in cheek)

I've run into that in the US. AFAIK you should treat it as a flashing yellow.
