drivers side under the hood there is a little plastic tower that unscrews and if you pull it up has electral pins in it. i also see a vacumm line coming out of the bottom. where does the other end of the hose go

That is the amplifier for the tachometer, I believe. If it is working, don't mess with it. Mine eats cigarette butts to keep it working.
now its dead well it flops but the butt did not work. you know were the vac hose goes?
