CD-R problems in E220

Hi chaps- I have an audio 10 CD player in the car. with normal CD's no probs, but with CD-R's the read is very variable. If it finds a track-it will play the rest of the CD OK. However if it is switched off and on I need to eject and start from track 1. I suspect the audio 10 cannot read CD-R's I have tried 2 makes of CD ( cheap and expensive) and the effect is the same. Has anyone any comments on this? Roy

AAAAAAh- but I didn't know the answer, I said I had a suspicion about what the problem was. I also have suspicions about what your problem is-but I may be wrong. Roy

Unfortunately I do not know your brand of CD player from own experience. However it may be useful to try different CDR brands (gold and silver discs) and lower the burn speed. I have heard of many cases where a CD receiver refused to read CDRs which were burnt faster than 4x speed.

They are all like that, some cdrs work better than others but apart from finding a brand that works well there is nothing you can do

In western Europe many Merc dealerships with service depts have technical specialists, e.g. for telephones and audio, who are there to advise customers.

Have you access to somebody like that to ask about your problem?

Might be worth it to supplement/confirm the replies you have received.
