Why are we warned not to overfill the gas tank?

Can anything bad except the cost of the gas happen?

Thanks!!!

Are you high? If so I am virtually jealous.

You should have gotten a Maybach > Why are we warned not to overfill the gas tank?

The gas tank should not be overfilled because, especially in warm weather, the fuel will expand, migrate into the evaporation control system and damage the charcoal canister.

Stop filling on the first automatic shut off.
