I have a 1975 MG Midget ( currently in storage out of the snow) Last summer the clutch retaining pin for the clutch withdrawl lever fell out while I was driving. After determing what the part was, Several pieces of what turned out to be the splined sleeve that holds the pin also came out.
I have inserted a bolt to hold everything together. I started reading the shop manual to determine how to best replace these parts - the manual states "the splined sleeve must be fitted before the arm is fitted to the clutch housing".
Does this mean that I have to remove the engine to fix the problem or does someone have a better - less labour intensive way of doing this.
