New Mini...

Any ideas on front license plate bracket or how to install front license plate without drilling front plastic?

Thanks, Tim

Who cares? Why not try double sided tape?

Real Minis have strong steel plate brackets. No problems at all.

Tray a hammer and some nails. The bumper is made from that stuff you stick dried flowers in with a plastic shell. Once you are through the plastic the nails should stick straight in.

If your using nails make sure they are galvanised otherwise you will have unsightly rust developing on the exposed parts.

They may be available from your BMW dealer but they will charge you an arm and a leg.

Alternative parts can be sourced from

They also do an uprated heavy duty version suitable for the Booper S

No they don't. The bits of metal are as weak as anything I have ever met and they don't work well. If you put a plastic number plate straight onto them, the first tap smashes it. The original brackets were designed for the old metal number plates. They work reasonably well with them but will still bend. Most modern car plates are put on with double sided tape onto a large flat area. That works far better and the plates are more difficult to steal. That's becoming important with the increasing use of speed cameras. If someone nicks your plates and is photographed speeding, you try proving where you were at 2 am.

You could always get them from a nailhouse, couldn't resist that one ;-)

what you need to do is change the bumper, and everything behind it so its a real Mini. Easy fix really, but you could aleviated the problem in the first place by buying a real Mini and not a Tonka Toy/ Match box car/ Hot wheels car...or what ever the favorite kids toy is in your part of the world LOL...

failing that you could go to alt.new.mini, you might find people there who give a toss about hatchbacks :-)
