what have you done to the front end? it looks horrible, the body lines are all wrong. is that a BMW supercharger? ~Did you buy the kit like that one in one of the mini mags?

You would have been better off getting hold of an old Shorrock charger the BMW thing (much the same as the BMW itself) is very inefficient. On the whole though I'm only saying that coz I'm bloody jealous :-)

Thanks!

The front end is 8 inches longer, I am still trying to get hold of an arch that will finish off the side properly, any suggestions?

It is a BMW supercharger and I didn't buy the kit as I have bosch k-jetronic fuel injection and needed to mount the injectors in a manifold with a plenum to get the sytem to work properly.

The other good thing about putting the supercharger there is that you can fit an intercooler which the kits don't allow yet (but I think that they are working on it!

12psi of boost showing with the intercooler fitted! I just need to get a clutch that copes as the turbo plate and grey spring don't seem up to the job!

Can't say I like it but it does appear to be quite unique - something that can't be said for a lot of modified cars these days 8-)

Did you consider moving the subframe forward to keep the same front overhang, a bit like with the vtec kits? It does increase the wheelbase of course...

Use a pair of rear arches, put the left one on the right and vice versa. The curve that normally goes under the rear valance could be trimmed to fit. Try with a couple from a scrappies first?

Just as well you don't need to extend the front any more or you'd have to make it a 6 wheeler ;-)

How about the rest of the engine/box?!?

Fairplay that is a seriously evil looking mini! I would not want to see that coming up behind me at a vast rate of knots which I am sure it is capable of.

Keep up the good work. Originality is a scarce commodity in this conformist world.

Hi Fitzy It is a little bit rapid, I am finding it a bit hard to test drive as the roads have just been gritted around sussex and it will wheel spin in 1st and 2nd just by applying a bit of pressure to the throttle! It then slips the clutch in 3rd and 4th which is a bit irritating as I have just put in a grey diaphragm and turbo plate. Has anyone got any recommendations for a good clutch setup as I haven't ever quite got this sort of torque out of an engine!

The reason I fitted the Bini charger was it was free and I just had a play around to see how it would all fit together, I am sure I could have made the front end a bit shorter if I had lots of money to spend on the correct rads and hose fittings but hey, I have never done something like this before and it is fun now it works! (albeit the slippy clutch!)

If anyone wants me to put a few more photos on my website showing the fuel injection a bit better then let me know as I am just playing with it at the mo!

What sort of power are you getting? I know there was a guy who had 200bhp out of an a series but he didn't say how badly his clutch coped with it.

Not too sure about the power at moment with the clutch slipping, I would guess around 150bhp and equal torque but won't know until I sort clutch and get some power runs done!

It put out about 90bhp and 90lbft before the charger, and is still seriously drivable with a flat torque curve by the feel of it!

I wil throw a few more photos on tomorrow, I want to get a sunny day so I can take some of the intercooler fitted!
