93 Expo 4G64 and 94-95 Galant 4G64 same?

Would anyone happen to know if these have the same 4G64 SOHC 16v engine? I need a throttle body for my Expo, and have been offered one from a US model Galant. We don't have the Galant in Canada.

stewart, i have no idea but suggest you order the gasket for the throttle you are going to receive and see if it matches the intake on your expo. what happened to your throttle?

The two little nylon gears in the Idle Air Motor (IAM) have partially stripped, and its all the one assembly. The gears are of course not available parts. I have to wait about 10 seconds for the CEL to go out before I try to start the engine, or else it stalls immediately. Second try is OK. When decelerating throttle closed, the engine jerks when the IAM trys to compensate and hits the stripped region of the gear set. Its an irritation rather than a major problem. I found a 93 4G64 SOHC 8v part, but its not the same (smaller verturi size, different IAM parts)

New replacement of throttle body assembly is around $400, I've been offered a Galant part for $75.

Idle Air Motor, is that the same as an Idle Stepper Motor? it attaches with two bolts and a 35mm o-ring to the bottom half of the throttle. i have found this to be interchangable between early 90's 4g63 (60mm throttle), late 90's (52mm throttle) and japanese domestic market "cyclone" (60mm throttle) it seems to be fairly universal in it's application, you should be able to bolt it up and be done. the seals are also unavailable from the factory. i have found throttle shafts at applied technologies (chicago rawhide part# 3930) for $4.22 each.

Hmm, I seem to recall that when I had mine off it was an integral casting. I'll double check when it gets warmer, and if the 4G63 ISM is the same, I can get one locally.

Thanks!

Hi, Expo is Colt or Summit in Canada. What size engine? Checked your local wrecking yard? Tony

As I said, 4G64 == 2.4L, and yes, I have checked the local yards.
