My 99 Eclipse GST just hit 60,000 miles. I called the dealer to get an appt for the 60,000 mile service. They gave me an estimate of $990.02. Thats almost a grand for just service! The guy said that over $600 of that was the timing belt. Im asking if there is an good alternative to going to the dealer. Something cheaper that won't screw up my engine. I live in Omaha, NE. Big enough so that there are a few nationwide stores that do this sort of work. Of course they will all say they work on Mitsu's, but I want to hear from those of you who have done it and can tell me who is good and who isnt.
