What keeps the wheels attached to the car longest under full scall attack?
Superglue.
When they're connected to the car's electrics?

Replacing _all_ the std wheel nuts/bolts with good locking ones. A thief would probably get fed up trying to remove them all within a reasonable time. Mike.
a good blob of weld ;)
Couple of minutes with a nice soft hammer and a screwdriver, takes hardly any time at all and makes a surprisingly small amount of noise. One person to loosen the bolts, who will move on to the next whilst his mate extracts them.
The design of the wheel itself is usually the determining factor in how secure they are. The more narrow and deeper the recess, the harder it is to do. The downside of that being that if the 'key' is lost then it's the owner who has a bit of a problem.
Better locking wheel nuts/bolts don't lend themselves readily to removal with a hammer and screwdriver, chisel, or special socket. Rotating outer sleeves. Hardened etc. And as you say, if they're deeply recessed they become even more difficult to remove without w/shop facilities or damaging the wheel. Put 4 or 5 of that type on each wheel, and I don't think there's much chance of having your wheels stolen. Mike.
Rotating sleeves don't make a lot of difference in my experience. The sleeve isn't exactly thick, you can just punch through it at 90 deg to make a purchase notch.
Heh, pretty moronic thing to do though for safety reasons...
You snipped the part about being deeply recessed. If they are, you can't punch through at 90 degrees. Effectively you can only get at the top of the nuts/bolts. I think your argument is simply a wind-up. Not a very good one either.
What are you on about? That it's unsafe if road wheels can't be easily removed? What has that got to do with safety? In any case, I wasn't making a recommendation. I was simply answering Doki's question. Mike.
Why is that unsafe?
