Cheap Barge

Jan 27, 2009 7 Replies

Morning all,

I am looking at getting a cheap barge to get to and from work(40 miles each way) lots of stop-start near the end or the journey.

I don't have a big budget at the moment but what I'm is it to be automatic, have climate control and cruise control.

What I don't care about is what it looks like or how old it is(within reason) My budget is limited and the car only needs to last a year. max =A3800

I thought I'd ask you guys for suggestions.

Regards

Tony

MK1 Mondeo Ghia. Should get a nice V6 with £300+ change.

Or realistically the 1.8 with a bombproof engine, better fuel consumption and a better car for the same money.

OTOH a bigger engine right now does make it quite a bit cheaper to buy, if you can then afford to run it.

I think he said auto. Won't a Mk1 Mondeo autobox last about 5 minutes if you're lucky?

The Volvo 740 estate in my sig is for sale as soon as the V5 finally comes through, and that ticks all the boxes with the exception of cruise control. And I only want 500 quid for it.

Having seen the exterior of this in the flesh, I can confirm it's very tidy for the year. :-)

For that you could get a Lexus LS400. And the chances are, as long as it runs ok when you buy it, it will keep doing that.
