I'm going to avoid Range Rovers for a few months. I will have another, but I'm having a Rangie sabbatical. Shame really, I've sold the P38 (once it's fixed) and the Turbo is going to a chap who's wanted it for months.

I'm going to sit out the great 4x4 depreciation explosion for a while. It's not cost me anything, but the way Gordons economy is heading having two Rangies might not be wise.

A Subaru probably isn't going be much cheaper to run, but /should/ be a tad less maintenance heavy with the mileage I'm doing. My private mileage has gone up by approx 350 miles a week lately as I'm having to traipse to Derby and Stafford due to family commitments that have become a lot more important in the last few weeks. This means whatever I buy will have to be able to get me there quickly at short notice. Range Rovers are ideal for wafting there, but they're not built for "Making progress" - the turbo Rangie isn't bad at it, but a Subaru is better than a Rangie will ever be at that kind of thing.

Despite rumours to the contrary, you don't actually *have to* screw cars *all the time*. If a Legacy will around 20 mpg @ 70ish on the motorway then I'm more than happy.
