hate to say it, but the Saab might have to go.

Can't afford to buy a house after paying off the mortgage. Couldn't afford the mortgage on a newer property. Would get about £85k for hours, would need to buy at 120k plus if I moved closer.

Last three people who asked for a payrise don't work there anymore, at one days notice. 4th guy to ask if it would be considered foudn it cheaper to go to india and marry an indian girl and move there for 2 years living on a years salary he saved, He had no life before he went.

I've thought about the better paid job, but I've been so pigeon holed by what they have me doing, I'm about 2 years out of touch with web dev stuff ATM and I've worked there 3 years. Locally, I've only seen jobs paying less than i'm on now, for wanting more qualifications, and where I am pays about 2/3 what the average is. Oh and I have to give 2 months notice if I cant to leave. When I tell people that, they make an excuse and end things very quickly.

The Saab is fantastic, but there is absoutley nothing at all wrong with a classic skoda (I've always appreciated them). And yes the classic skoda that is rocketing in value is the same "Classic" Skoda that all the jokes were made about.

If I had the money, I would still buy a Skoda and chuck it down on a Fabia vRS.

LOL. OK, but my delivery fee would rape you. You can have the car for 50p, but my shipping would be somewhere in the region of 1100.00 and that is GBP, not Euro before you get any strange ideas.

Book price condition 2 £1000

That is, with MOT needs some minor cosmetic/functional work to be a minter, but legal and safe to drive.

I've done the wear and tear stuff, just a small wing repair on the wheel arch and some laquer flaking to flat and blow over.

It's had the ball joints and front bearings done. Bushes front and rear checked. New Discs (front), calipers(front), and pads all round. Shocks all round. new timing chain and tensioner. weak bosch dump valve replaced by servicable bailey alloy stronger unit. All vac hoses under the bonnet, and most under the dash replaced. Factory philips paper cone speakers replaced with Kickers in the factory sizes but uprated power handling. Calibrated boost gauge fitted to suppliment the factory APC guage. New set of tyres with barely any wear.

11 1/2 months MOT, and tax till Sept. New power antenna. Faded badges on the boot and Bonnet replaced. Full stamped service book to 108k, with me taking over at 118, and oil changes every 3k full synthetic. All MOTs except the 1991. All the reciepts for the parts and work done (by SAAB indy specialist, all mechanics Saab or Merc apprenticed, and Saab tranined). 1984 magazine review of an identical car.

Real bargain. Even 8 valves and non drivable Aeros are reaching £1500, and Cabriolets are holding in the mid thousands.

Is that £1100 with the wheel arch sorted or £1100 and needing fettling?

Where?

Needing fettling. Always start high, even when you start low, the buggers will knock you down and make you feel bad about not going for it.

Pretty much everywhere.

Mix of manuals, turbos, tin tops and rag tops. Not too many listed. but one or two to get an idea.

Looks wise and interior, this is almost identical to mine, except mine appears to have less rust.

The biggest thing is while the burgandy carpets and seats/door cards isn't particularly rare, the burgundy dash is. When I showed photos of it to some other Saab guys, one in holland, he said that he used to have one, he needed a new vent cover for the dash. The twenty years in the business parts guy said "Nope, never made one with a burgundy dash, yours isn't original, then looked in the parts microfische and said (in the dutch equivalant) well bugger me, they made one, and I've never seen one in twenty years". Oh and I got one too. Just wish it had the burgundy leather seats and Aircon (although twostroke2turbo will retrofit tested and working for £300).

Having had my TI for 18 months, I will *NEVER* go back to an underpowered car. I can't beleive you're even considering it ?!?!?

A car is a car is a car. It's only a car. Not like I'm giving up a Ferrari for a model T. The handling is comparative. I should have the Skoda Favvy and change from selling the Saab, probably enough change to fit an alarm, and electric windows. Handling can be made to happen. Yeah the engines rattle a little. So Does the Saab (camchain sees to that). interior in a later GLXIe is similar if not identical spec to the Saab Handling of a Favvy is a little odd, they understeer a little but not as bad as the Saab, and lean a bit but not as bad as a 2CV. Handling of the Saab is almost as good as a well maintained Estelle or Rapid. Top speed I took the favvy to was 90. Will do 95. Limit is 70, could easily lose license still in the Favvy. Only thing I lose out on is out and out acceleration, but I also gain no turbo lag.

I really wouldn't be too bothered if I do decide to sell. I love it, and don't want to sell it, but if I need to, at least the cabin, the handling and the mechanics will be second nature to me.

Like I said it is just a car. Period.

That's the thinking I might have to adopt *if* I decide to sell the Audi. And ok, it's not a super rare car like, say, a Ferrari Enzo, but it was still a pretty rare find, to get the exact spec I got and in the condition it's in. But as I'm not playing in a band at the moment and really don't

*need* an estate car, and even so, now I've got the Maestro (though not currently driving it) that'll be plenty big enough for music gear, there's very little justifiable reason to hang on to it (apart from the fact that I really really like it).

Heh, I could say that about the Fiesta van compared to the Audi :-)

Nah. She pays a good chunk of the bills. Also she plans money much better than me. If it wasn't for her, I would still be taking the train, without a driving license at all, with mega debts on cards, in a rented flat.
