Have the chav motor mags improved?

MaxxyP has had several features on retros, VIPs and the JDM scene.

Now Redline is showing a similar strain, and even has sections on proper body work, and sponsored by companies like Marangoni and Meguars.

I saw a MaxPower a couple of months ago and was surprised to find that it seemed they were taking themselves a bit more seriously. Nipple count was way down as was the occurrence of feature Surbo'd 1.1 Saxos and Lairy coloured Corsas with enormous shopping trolley handles on the boot and blue LED washers. I was most surprised although still not really compelled to buy myself a copy.

I bought the one with the 900 horse Mustang in, as it featured the retro-rides guys, but I haven't bought the next one.

I bought a couple of JTuner but can't seem to find it now. Guess it folded.

Unfortunately it has, which is a pity given that they were probably the best mag in that market. But given that it was hard to get I'm not surprised.

AFAIK the same publisher also published Retro Car, which folded around the same time.

Yeah, JTuner was a Future publication, and Retro Cars was bought by Future about a year before they folded it.

They have brought out Performance Tuner now, but that seems to be a poor man's Evo.

I did have a quick gander through it but it didn't appeal.

It isn't my kind of car mag. I like my cars old and cheap, but either stupidly funny, or stupidly fast for the money. They don't have to be popular as that can make them too pricey. "Practical" means a lot for the cash, not the sensible factory tuned hatch when you have outgrown filler dust and neons.
