1) The roads are weird. Very few road markings compared to the UK road system (ie, no give way lines on crossroads), but possibly better once you get the hang of it, as you have to concentrate more on what people are up to.


2) 100kph on motorways and dual carriageways - what's that all about? (Anyone got any ideas if there are cameras on A15 / N15? :D).


3) The food is nice.


4) Rent is cheap.


5) The language is strange.


6) The *make* bikes use bike paths. Would drive me up the wall.

Sounds like you enjoyed yourself then. One of their road features that took me awhile to sort out after getting it wrong a few time is an on ramp on the outskirts of Utrecht heading towards Ijsselstein, its 2 lanes and you need to be in the right lane to go straight on and the left lane to go off to the right, the right lane has a flyover to go over the left lane. Can't figure the sense in it as it would seem easier/cheaper to have the right lane go to the right and the left lane join the motorway its parallel to.

there is a camera at the entrance of one of those huge tunnels (can remember the name though - sorry) on the A15. If you go to 'A globa view on world, UK and business news and comment from The Times an Sunday Times'
