I usually manage to squeeze out about 35mpg. I can't be bothered filling up next week so I might drive slowly until the weekend ;). There's also the fact that driving flat out VS driving at 50mph makes about 30 seconds difference to most of my journeys as the B road to town ratio for my commute is horrid. It's a lot more fun flat out though.

Really? Everything I've ever read about them said chronic understeer.
Indeed, chronic, almost scary understeer is built in to protect the unwary, however it can be fooled, lift then blast on a greasy roundabout and drift is the answer. Blast it on a farm track and oversteer is the result.
Smart went back COVERED in mud (I do some work on a farm occasionally) and having been thoroughly thrashed...
No wonder the engine is on its last legs and dribbling from every orifice! ;)

foot to the floor in the van sees it doing 28 mpg pootling laong at 60 sees it doing 41 pootling along at 50 sees it doing 48 and pootling along at 56 while slipping a lorry sees it doing 135 miles on £7 worth of ultimate bp diesel :) i was surprised when my sierra did a 51 mpg on a run recently thouhg :)

How close do you need to be to slipstream a lorry? Perhaps the Ka needs an economy meter so I can tell ;).
tooo close. Used to do that in my silly years when I had a nissan sunny - basically it's about 5 to 10 ft, then you lose the benefit.
