Black in that pattern should look cool. Very cool.

I'd buy that for a dollar!

It's also appropriate, since I've got a tolerably direct link to that clan (and some oddball trivia: The Colquhoun Clan included the last known practitioner of Witchcraft in Scotland, a necromancer - John Colquhoun, 19th of Luss). Amusingly, the Colquhoun Clan appears to have been founded - fundamentally - by Kilpatricks in the 1200s.

Of course, thanks to my accent, I will get the piss ripped mercilessly, and you wouldn't believe how much of an issue my last name can be - even up here, people took the piss in school.

I don't go in for the clan stuff, or even family history, beyond the passing interest and discovering said Necromancer mentioned a lot ;)

One of my friends is a McGregor. Gotta keep an eye on him. Not to be trusted, that lot ;)

I'm not sure it'd suit you.

I don't think the goats will mind.

Mr Miller GD, meet mr Dell 1900FP.

It is acrylic rather than wool, but a full 8 yards of fabric, just over the knee when worn high on waist in the correct manor. It isn't the weight it is about the breeze. We have fans that move the air about, and that will help. It is also more a matter of principle. Smart long short wouldn't look out of place in a non customer facing role, but the company made a statement that they were against policy but allowed engineers(network/computer) to break the rules. Our boss decided he would enforce the rule just to be a PITA.

So enquired about kilts and skirts for men and the pretty much the answer was "Kilts no worries, Skirts if you like, we can't stop you dressing as a woman, but don't even dream about wearing such a manly item as long shorts"

I got that. Being English, with an english accent, and one of only 4 english kids (one other being my brother, and the other two being twins who had been there since near birth so damned near locals) in a small town ayrshire school tends to make you stand out a little.

The Missus's family are Macgregors (Gregories when the family was outlawed, moved south and changed it's name to avoid the law).

I've got a friend like that, he describes himself as a biker goth, which he is, what with riding an XR400 and being a goth, he even makes his own chainmail, and funnily enough, he looks good in what he likes to wear, but a fish out of water in what is considered normal gear. I once tried wearing his chainmail tunic, and it was like wearing a car engine. He is a big lad though. Kilts can be worn with anything, look good with biker boots or a dinner jacket, as long as it's a proper kilt and not one of those nancy non tartan ones like that prat who is the "first minister" of Scotland wore on an American jaunt a while back,

or indeed the gay scottish interior designers on the telly wore.

'Working' kilts were always plain. The idea of them all being tartan is a Victorian invention.

"Dave Plowman (News)" wrote in news: snipped-for-privacy@davenoise.co.uk:

Tartan worn by the Scots predates the Victorians by a long way. I accept that single colour kilts come later but, the first kilt in it's present form was worn as early as 1575. However single colour only denotes how poor the wearer was. The more colours, the higher the rank.

"The use of tartan in Scotland predates the kilt as tartan appeared as a design before the small kilt was invented. The first recorded use of the modern kilt was in 1575, but the use of tartan predates this significantly."

Oddly enough, I look my best in a properly cut silk suit. Although I will descend to a crumpled linen suit and a panama hat if pushed.

"A woman for sons, a boy for pleasure, a goat for ecstasy" If it was good enough for the greeks...

I don't know about silk, but linen is right up there. No Panama, though

- I'm not the man from Del Monte.

Richard (trilby for me, thanks, slighty wide brim, folded down at front).
