Ah well, thats the problem. Mine isn't used excessively loudly - its usually around the same volume as the TV normally is. Sounds unrealistic if its up too high. Mine also has all the speakers at the heights they should be, which is not up near the ceiling and the distances and angles set in the amp so everything gets to where it should be at the volume its supposed to be.

That'll cost a hell of a lot more than an X-Box or PS3 would do.

I prefer keyboard and mouse for FPS games , but having had a PS3 for a while now I'm quite happy using a pad.

Are you running optical out? I'm running hdmi into my telly then out from that to my amp via toslink. Sounds great.

Yes, running optical out. Its the same whether its ones I've ripped on the PS3 or streamed from the desktop. Being partially deaf thanks to years of lorry driving with the drivers window open, I tend to notice the lack of treble quite notably. There is no way to alter it either unless there's something on the PS3 I'm missing - I'd quite like to actually be corrected on this.
