OT road bike speed record

An old aquantance and competitor from my drag racing days 9 years ago Jack Frost (Jared Frost) just ran his slightly modified 700+ bhp Turbo Suzuki Hyabusa 1300cc bike at 257+ mph at bruntingthorpe. Its completely road legal and uses standard z rated tyres etc. The guy is a star! But came 2nd on the day...

Another almost identical bike but lowered and less road legal ran over

260mph! But I dont know him...

Its full details should anyone be interested are in this months Performance Bikes mag. It should be on the shelves in about 3 or 4 days I think. I am fortunate because they send me one early/free cos I used to work for them!

Thats 538bhp per litre. A 2.0 Cossi should be making over a 1070 bhp... Mind you engine one did throw a rod through the case!

And thats 0 - 257 - 0 in under 2 miles... And he couldnt brake too hard because the front tyre was hitting the turbo under braking loads making huge clouds of smoke and melting the tyre...

That is frikken insane. I'm guessing a small shot of nitrous may also of been involved.

I think he had the power anyway to go faster still but its a stability / grip thing. And stopping before you hit the earth bank at the resovoire at the end of the runway... The other guy took to the grass once as it was!

I want there personally - reading this from PB mag. But I spent lots of time at bruntingthorpe proving ground and it has a problem. Its totally massive and featureless. You cant see where you are along its length. No pubs, lamp posts, or anything. There is a board near the end that says "brake" but I doubt it gives you much warning (if you see it at all) at 250mph plus! By the time you see the end you are still going too fast to stop. You have to rely on the place your "group" has parked the cars/vans as a reference. Or the 128ft speed trap (if you can see some tiny tripods and mirrors at that speed)

Looks highly modified to me..............and the motor blew up!

Motor 1 did. At low speed and boost. He says in the article that he has no idea why it let go. Motor two was fine.

As far as modified goes it just had fancy rods (which broke!) and low compression pistons. A big turbo, intercooler and injection system. Not really modded much! I have modded some engines more. these suzuki motors can stand big power outputs as they come. Its why most stree/drag racers use suzukis. And the bike iteslf just had a longer swing arm for stability and to keep the front on the deck. Basically it was the same as many drag bike busas, but with a bit bigger turbo (getting off the line wasnt the purpose so lag no prob).

After all another aquaintance known as woody went 219mph on an unfaired 1200 bandit 7 years ago! It was a STOCK motor with a spacer plate and a strong clutch. And an old school Rajay T4 draw through single carb with no intercooler. It "only" had 330bhp. The 700 that the busa had was way more than required I think but used to "make sure" as the runway seems very short on a fast bike! And he owns Holeshot racing so is a good ad as well as a drag bike for weekends!

Oh look, Chris Stevens/Ken/"I never use socks" has morphed again and is calling himself "Wanderer".

You'd think the piece of bubonic sputum would at least have the courtesy to stick to one mail address, makes him so much easier to KF...

Its very very easy to find my contact details..........why shouldnt it be I have nothing to hide!

On the other hand totally anonymous posters like "straggle" probably do have something to hide, so go to a lot of trouble to hide true identity!

Which has very little to do with Chris Stevens constant morphing, use of socks and general usenet nuisance. Stevens would like to be anonymous, hence his constant morhing, but being a bit thick he can't manage it.
