Did anyone know that you can now Text to any BT landline number, have I been sitting in a cave the last few months or is this common knowledge :)
Just text any BT landline and it goes through as normal and a voice converts the text to speech and your home phone calls you. I was impressed lol

Get out of that cave more often. Or get a BT landline installed in it.

I would rather own, drive and "cherish" an original Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 Merit than have a BT land line installed.

It works on my Telepest landline too. I did it by accident. I was lay in bed, and I sent my bird a text message, but I sent to our home number by accident. Then the phone rang and read me my text message! I was well spooked!

I was with telewest for 4 years, but since moving to BT I have halved my phone bills, I have been very happy with ADSL as well, especially Nildram, but this new 10mb from BY is making me look at the telewest socket.

Karoo. Kingston Comms for the phoneline complete with their own cabling and 3MBit down/400+K up although it seems to max out my mates 512K when I send stuff to him.

If you have a text capable phone then it arrives as a text message. It uses the CallerID signalling for delivery.

I remember going to a job in Hull once. Kingston Comms had sold them three seperate ADSL lines, one for each PC, and insisted that there was no other way to do it.

Since we got on "pikey midband" (300k) it started off absolutely fine, and then for a while it was absolutely s**te - constantly dropping for long periods, absolutely useless - you never knew when it was going to happen next.... anyway, eventually I got around to calling them about it, and they confirmed that their system said that the connection had dropped about 150 times over the last 2 days and that this wasn't normal, and they sent an engineer out, who did something (can't remember as I didn't deal with it - basically something had been set up wrong), and it's worked fine ever since, bar a very small amount of downtime.
