You know you said you wanted a Saab 9000. One of the reasons being that they're quick and reliable.
You may want to think again.

The difference is the price though. What do 156's cost on average compared to a 9000? the last 9000 was model year 1998. That makes it 7 years oldish at least. Most are a lot older. When was the first and last 156 made? Saab 9000 (face lift only) 91-97 (they first appeared pre-facelift in
194). Alfa 156 98-onwards.You would hope that a car that is 7 years old at the oldest, is more reliable than one that is 7 years old at the youngest.
Not as much difference as you may think.
We got a very, very nice 156 TSpark from a specialist with a proper, decent warranty with all belts changed as well as all the suspension bushes done for £2800. That's not a million miles away from 9000 money.
Average age of the 9000 in the survey is 5.5 years against 2.8 for the
156.But that's not really the point, as, in theory, the reliability should improve with age as manufacturing defects fixed under warranty become less of an influence over the results.
Besides which, the 9-5 is even less reliable..... 50 points worse off.
How can it it improve in manufacture, when the car is out of production?
But you and I both know that newer Alfas are great, the 9000 is still good, but just not a real Saab. The original 900 was the last of the great bombproof cars. They are still better than most, just not as good as they used to be.
Reliabilty Index
The Reliability index takes into account all factors of a repair, the cost of the parts and the frequency of failures - Average is 112 which means that if the figure for the car you are looking at has a higher than average index (118) the indication is that that car is less reliable than the average, if however there is a lower than average index (60) the reliability is better.
My Pug's got a score of 68 :D
Hurrah for reliability :D
The SAAB 9000 is a Lancia Thema / Alfa 164 / Fiat Croma in disguise.
So accept the Italian levels of reliability, dammit :) or buy a 164 24v V6 Super Lusso and accept them with pride!
Tell me you don't find this car absolute sex on wheels. And actually mean it.
Its not absolute sex on wheels, but it is very nice. Although the dash is a bit ugly.
Looks like a bit of a minter tho, and the mileage isn't that bad either (all Saabs seem to have done silly miles!). Isn't that a bit big to park on your street though?
Body length longer, but total length (including the big lip bumpers of the 900) shorter than my old 900. Transverse engine lost a load of space over the longitudinal engine of the C900.
Go buy it then :D
Working in Wilmslow and the kind of cars I see every day? There's a DB9 Volante (convertible) parked round the corner. That's sex on wheels. As was the white convertible Lambo Gallardo I saw yesterday on the way home.
However that looks a nice example there. And the best colour with nice coloured wheels. HURRY UP ONLY 53 MINUTES!! (mind you you might be able to barter afterwards if the reserve doesn't get met)
That rules :)
I have my sniping software set. It doesn't always work. Sometimes it does. If it does, it still might not hit reserve.
Nope, that is expensive, by the hour Mayfair hooker birthday treat sex on wheels. This is roll over, see her in bed every morning, and thing, wow, and she chose me, sex on wheels.
Snuck up over £2k now...
Yep, getting a big too close to my maximum with so long to go.
