I dont think so, having an illegal number plate in italics for example the coppers are likely to fine you and get you to change it, should they so wish, but a false plate is another matter altogether
It wouldn't be a false plate if you used "BESPOKE" as it's not a valid registration. You could just velcro the name plate over the top of the original and remove it if asked by the police. I seem to remember Burgerman doing this with his bikes.

Apparently, they can't nick you for having false 'plates, cos it's not officially a 'plate.
So they nick you for having no plates at all, which is a much lesser offence.
Never tried it though :)
