I have no idea. However.... I'll guess the following.

It's hugely inappropriate for the task in hand and will cripple you financially if petrol goes back up to Autumn 2008 levels.

Something won't be quite right on it, that'll cost too much to fix.

It'll be a fantastic car for about 3 months, then you'll spend 3 months moaning about it.

After 6-9 months you'll sell it for less than half what you paid for it and get another oddball moneypit.

Hmm, an improvement on the SAAB and something that a dealer was willing to let you trade in a SAAB against.

I've seen a short list of commuter hacks that are *very* tempting at the moment. Several S-type Rs around for 7-10k with under 40k miles. I'm even tempted by the 2.7TDi XJ which is a car that is wrong on so many levels. But I can get a 2006 XJ diseasel for 14K and that seems to be standard price at main dealers, and who the hell would complain at 35mpg in the city and (as Clarkson et al showed) 50mpg plus on a long run.

Anything with a V8 is available for pocket money, and for any 4x4 made after 2001 with a petrol engine > 2 litres there appears to be a catastrophic drop in value. Yeah, I know, tax.

He didn't say RWD though, he said it wasn't FWD so possibly a 4x4.

If Conor is closest with a Ford of the 21st century and it's not FWD, I can't think of any obvious RWDs in their range since the Scorpio.

So my guess is it's a 4x4, but I doubt you'd have gone for an Exploder... so in a tenuous link, I reckon you've gone for a Jag X or S Type, be that RWD or 4WD.

That, or a Volvo, as they're owned by Ford as well.
