I paid £340 for TPF&T with Direct Line (not worth FC), late twenties and full no claims. FC was about five to six hundred iirc.

I'd actually have one of those KIA things if it was the right price (less than a grand).

In fact I might buy one just to see if I could get the group to follow. Let's face it, we all thought the Rover 600TI was a longshot, but it worked.

Heh! I had a Daewoo Leganza for about a month, 'cos it was cheap (£1200 for an S reg). Engine was quite unrefined, but economy was ok (but not great considering the lack of performance - I averaged around 30mpg in it, in and out of London, 2 litre 16v), ride quality pretty good, handling very wallowy but manageable, reasonably comfortable and fairly well equipped. I did a bit of research into them before buying it on honestjohn.co.uk, parkers.co.uk, peachorlemon.co.uk, and apart from cambelt problems (those damn GM 16v engines), and a few problems with autoboxes, they seemed to be on the whole fairly reliable. Certainly never let me down. Oh, and I managed to sell it on eBay about 4000 miles later for just shy of £1800 :-)

I've yet to see the surge in A6 TDI sales. Just the way I like it. Just been out in the A6 tonight and if I keep it in the powerband it's actually quite a fun car to drive, though there was one slightly hairy moment where I think I experienced a bit of brake fade, must remind myself I'm not invincible and the car does have limits :-). Taking it up to the Crucible to see Ronnie O'Sullivan play tomorrow, which is nice. Got a couple of spare tickets (10am and 6:45pm sessions) if anyone's interested. Mail me before 6am tomorrow if you are!
