That would be seriously funny driving down the road. Exhaust gas encased in bubbles!! Like I said. I'd pay money to see that! Not much though, I'm a very poor man (cue violins).

Any thoughts on whether it might work?

I don't know if heat or the velocity of the exhaust gases might cause a problem. I guess you'd need some sorta 'super-duper bubble mix'. Maybe they sell it on eBay ;)

Just something a bit thicker like super bargain basement bubble bath or shampoo probably.

Yeah, I was joking about the eBay thing - thinking about that snake oil ;)

I wanna see a car with bubbles for the exhaust!!! I wonder what they'd think in the emissions test? ;)

Just have a nice switch to operate the pump.

I'm seriously thinking about putting together something like this for a knock about test. Wonder if there is a market for it? "Safer and more fun than a flamer, legal too" sort of thing. Could be really funny in a nice WRC or drag car replica, engine roaring, tyres smoking, stream of bubbles coming out of the exhaust. ;)

That would be a laugh. How would you get the bubbles to form? Maybe a wheel of some sort with large holes drilled in it, half submerged in a reservoir of bubble bath strapped under the exhaust pipe? That way, the wheel could spin around, forming bubbles in the holes and then letting em go when they get up by the exhaust.

You got me thinking now...

Just use a bus or wagon washer pump and some nice thick bubble mix with a look of wire loop in the end of the tube.

As it pumps up the washer fluid, it will stretch as a skin over the loop hopefully, and then the gasses will inflate it. Might only work on idle though otherwise the gases would be going too fast. Hmmm.

You don't have a bushy beard, glasses, and an arran sweater+ oversized shoes do you?
