Why did no one slap the silly bitch?
Bullshit. I own an Impreza WRX and have also owned a 150BHP 2.2 Vectra SRi which is about the same power as the 1.9 CDTi.
The ONLY Vectra that would bother the Scooby is the VXR and then only until it came to a bend...
In my opinion the Vectra aint as bad as J Clarkson makes out, but certainly isn't anything special in the handling stakes...
"It's not a car... it's a phenomenon!"
I'm calling this as post of the week.
Fraser
i'll call it bullshit of the week then :)
It's attrocious in the handling stakes. Compare it with a Mondeo in that sense, and there's no comparison.
To be fair though the Mondeo wouldn't understeer like that, probably mainly because it has about 60 less bhp, also, Clarkson was clearly doing it on purpose as he has an axe to grind against Vauxhalls. In Evo mag's review, they liked it, they said it was quiick point to point, kept up with the 330i Beemer, and wasn't too far behind the Evo and Scooby. Fair enough if you pop the track off, nail it in a low gear and turn the steering lock to full, it probably will understeer a bit...
"Clarkson was clearly doing it on purpose as he has an axe to grind against Vauxhalls." - Dunno about that, I remember him speaking very highly of the Monaro and the VX220 turbo!
