Remote door popping kit

And a remote controlled solenoid is a means of opening the door. From both the inside and outside.

It is an electro-mechanical handle/switch, just like that on the TVR mirror switch, just happens to be remotley rather than locally operated.

Not saying it is a necessarily smart idea, but it does look good, does work, and is legal.

No it isn't, not in the sense that is required.

Once you're inside, it's not a means of opening the door from the outside.

UK Mot is irrelevant, it's run by a 3rd party user who is nothing to do with anything so far as the government goes ("UKMOT.COM does not warrant the accuracy of the information contained herein").

Where does it say that tho, not got time to do a full search but the only info I can see that's obvious is this;

"Both front doors must be capable of being opened from the inside"

I understood something like a broken handle inside a saloon which required opening the window and using the outside handle was a fail. My local place who are very fair always check both inside and out on both front doors.

"Reason for rejection b. a driver's or front passenger's door cannot be opened from both inside and outside the vehicle

Note: reason for rejection 5b does not apply to:

front passenger doors if the door aperture has been permanently 'filled' as part of a specialised customisation provided that there are no obvious aperture gaps."

If your local NovaBoy padding up his door handles counts as "specialised customisation" it may be circumventable then. I guess it's a case of "if it's on the car it must work" :/
