aint had a scan of the data sheet yet but looks like a flat spot between

3500 and 4500 RPM to me

still made 122.1bhp at 7169RPM at a speed of 102mph (pretty much standard) and 104.9lbft torque looks like roughly 105bhp at the wheels so not a bad loss.

highest was a modded MKII turbo with 381bhp and a silly amount of torque, forget how much but think it was 250ibft and was running at 1.6 bar (normally runs at 1.8bar but not been well :))

had a RX7 there too, pretty much standard i think and it made 269bhp, and it's the weirdest thing i've ever heard! had the smoothest power curve too. had 2 Nissan 200SX's one made 207 and the other 210bhp....

was a good day in the end and a not to bad turn out, looks of people came to watch including some guy with a nice looking red Supra with very shiny 18's on it and some wicked looking boost gauages :)

will post a scan of me sheet tomz :)

Isn't this when the TVIS does it's funky stuff?

Aye, perfectly standard, which is good news.

Silly? No, silly is over twice that figure...

nope that comes in after 4500rpm at the end of the flat spot, it seems to drop then the tvis comes in and it pics up again.

it's not a smooth curve at all, the RX7 was a really smooth curve. was really surprised...

I once read in C&CC about a VTEC engine engine which ran alright on the hot cam well below the VTEC switch point, he reckoned it was a marketing thing to give you the impression of a big kick in the back. Perhaps the variable intake is set up similarly...

The mark one MR2 has a great engine. It's as docile as any other Honda around town, but comes alive when the intake does it's funky stuff...

got this wrong, it was 317ibft :) 381 was at the fly on 1.6bar

Actually, a VIS system almost by definition produces a "twin peak" graph with what would best be described as a flat spot between the peaks:

The next engine advances will probably combine VIS with something like variable valve or spark timing to smooth out the graph.

Vamp your flat spot is due to your air filter and exhaust. Especially the exhaust.

Perhaps. But dont they have some kind of VIS like the last-of-the-line Lancia Themas?

That might explain it. Ohh the noise my mates Thema VIS made was fantastic once the VIS kicked in. And for a NA 2.0 it was amazingly quick.
