'ere Ronny, it's RWD - RWD cars don't suffer from torque steer, ya silly twonk!
Peter
Only - they do. You may not feel it throught the steering like you do with FWD, but it's still possible to have torque steer with a RWD car. It's the back end that gets unsettled in this case/
I didn't believe it until it was explained to me by a bloke I know who among other things has designed and built Formula Ford cars and has also run a pukka GT team.
Perhaps it was a special "modified" MR2 :) it must be fooking hard to crash a car the way he did it, even Stevie Wonder could have lasted longer :P
that's god knows how many years old that clip, feel kinda sorry for the guy for the clip hanging about in cyber space still hehe.
i reckon he has no LSD and one wheel gripped and the other didn't as he seems to turn on the spot as he lets rip but the front wheels appear straight, he takes way to long to react and brake which is kinda funny. still least it was only a jetta and nothing decent he hit, muppets and MR2's eh!
It looked like a fairly nice newer shape jettas:

the Jetta to me always said 'i'd like a golf but this was cheaper to insure and would fit our kids pram in the back' don't like them think there pretty fugly cars like the VW Bora which is pretty much the same, nice inside though the bora.
The fastest vw with a production line engine is a mk2 jetta with a turbo'ed VR6 engine to my knowledge, posted a 9.13 1/4 mile time I think from memory. Yanks are crazy about them! All mk2 jettas shared the same engines as the golfs I think but obviously the boy racer image/GTi badge increase insurance costs.
I actually like mk1 jettas that have been done well, they look relatively similar to a mk2 escort.
I don't think so, I think it's more to do with the boot, some people prefer cars with boots, they look nicer, a Bora is just a Golf with a boot.
Insurance costs are lower due to it not being a hot hatch, but every man and his dog has a Golf.
bora's are much better looking than golfs, and R32 bora would be sick!
there was an ok looking silver jetta not far from me with black tinted windows sitting silly low on gold 18's oh and gold VW badges did kinda look the muts nuts.
yeah booted cars can be nice but the jetta to me isn't one of them.
hate the new golf! loved the MK3 then they really ruined it after that! :(
I reckon they ruined it after the Mk2.
Peter
They ruined the Mk3 GTi, but the vr6 was spot on. I've been in a a black fully loaded one that my uncle took out for a test drive, really comfortable drive and a hell of allot of torque when you floor it yet measured and smooth. I've read articles that mention they are good for 750 bhp, of course the life span of the oem parts is drastically reduced but still street driveable with an appropriate clutch and forged pistons.
Your joking right? gold wheels and badges, sounds like a piece of s*it.
lol you had to see it, was quite nice. although that's going back to my 'turning chav with a cav' days *shudder*
