A train fair, a set of belts and maybe a headgasket. Hmm, got to be worth it.

No it's not.

They're worth sod all. Spend a few hundred and get a good one.

It was expressed on the "Saabec" mailing list, "Worth it, if you just=20 need a wing mirror" :)

BTW, =A341 and I didn't.

So many times I've thought this and then found out "bollox what a waste of time and money" once I went through with it, so never again :S

LOL. Like one of the guys on the mailing list I found it on said "Worth it if you even just need a wing mirror"

Probably a half decent parts car, and that is it.

That is comedy cheap. The same car here would be worth a minium of Aus$5000.

Second hand Saabs here have no value. "High mileage" Saabs have even less. non 100% functional ones can't be given away.

It's parts that do it for a lot of people. Camchain. =A3400 for parts only from Saab. I had one parts and fitting =A3215 from an independant on my old 900. Direct ignition cassette (big block that contains 4 coils and goes=20 straight over the cam cover). =A3350 from Saab. =A3160 from eurocarparts or= =20 German, Swedish and French. Same genuine saab part both times.

If they do basic service stuff themselves, buy the parts from a=20 specialist, and get bigger repairs and large service items done at=20 independants, they are no more expensive than any other car. Now where is that black 900 Convertible with black leather, aircon,=20 cruise and a slightly dodgy reverse gear. I reckon I can get that for=20 =A32.5k

My old man recently had his serviced and the front disc's alone cost 200 quid for a pair. I have never heard of a pair of vented normal discs costing so much?

We tried all the usual suspects after and none of them stock HOT Aero 95 front discs, they are quite big apparently.

Don't know if these are the ones? From Eurocarpats "ATE=20

haha! that's it i'm buying old bangers! shipping them to fraser and letting him move them on for a tiny coin in it for him to so he can restock on the xxxx or whatever else ozzy's spend there cash on.

Nope, they aren't all HOTs. Can't remember the power for the 9-5, but for the 9-3 2.0 turbo(old GM900 shaped) it was FPT was 185BHP, HOT was 205BHP, Auto HOT was

200BHP. The normal 9000 2.3 FPT was 200, Aero was 225. Aero Auto was either 200 or 205 (I've heard both), because basically it was a FPT CSE with aero suspension, interior and body kit because while the Auto box was fairly strong, the factory didn't want to push the stupid torque figures through it that the Aero turbo and ECU created. They just used a tweaked map and the standard turbo. Still factory, but not as much real pull, and not as good off boost economy. The real manual Aeros actually used a smaller turbo, but with less lag and a wider power spread for normal driving, they produced out right much more power. The Standard T3 used on the CSEs doesn't actually get anywhere close to running out of steam on the 200-300bhp standard (ish) engines.

Screw XXX. I drink Hoegaarden. Australian beers taste like stale piss. For a real laugh check out some of the cars on

I could send you some of our Holdens back in the empty containers.

Fraser

that was one long SAAB nerd post!

will check it out! MMMMM holden :) i'll keep an import Holden in mind!

Holdens are just Vauxhalls with corks. Not really worth an erection.

Douglas

Yep. S***ty GM build quality. After all they are built by drunk Australians. Same as the Fords here. Though I am considering a Falcon XR6 Turbo as my next car. 4.0 Litre straight 6 with a big turbo on it. 240kw standard *quick maths* Thats around 340 horsepower. Quick fiddle with boost will see them over 400hp pretty easy. And shitloads of torque. Only problem is they handle like pigs.

Fraser

Buy the engine and put it something that doesn't handle like a pig?

Nah. I figure a whiteline kit and some firmer springs should do the trick. Decisions decisions.
