'snot the fast one though. :-(

If we're gonna have unreliable stuff, may as well have *fast* unreliable stuff. [1]

[1] Ok, so the Jensen ain't /that/ quick, it's a 7.2 V8.. [2] [2] Quick ain't an issue when something sounds that nice.

Convertibles use a detuned 7.2 which in some cases put out a stupidly meagre

240ish bhp. Fortunately, ours is nearer 300 bhp (not US spec, y'see), but there's a pretty mental "six pack" equipped SP model which IIRC had an insane amount of carburation and 360 bhp.

Good thing about 'em is they're mega tuneable, and quite cheap to get oodles of poke from.

Nah, I was talking about the Esprit, which was the fast exprit, or did they turbo the V8 too?

Retro-J all the way mate.

All of these would get you to work easily, be servicable at a dealer should you want, and have that "What is it?" Retro Jap cool.

Old Celica, or Crown, or even very old Cresida.

They did two Esprit Turbos, well, two common ones. The one for sale above, and a quicker one which was either the "SE" or "HC". I can't remember which.

The V8s are all twin turbo.

I think I would probably prefer the V* myself TBH.

ISTR an HC Esprit now you mention it.

Difficult to imagine a single turbo v8 design, for that matter.
