Does anyone know much about the price/performance/reliability of the older Skyline models? I think I mean an R32, the J/K reg era. A guy at work has just bought a three year old GT-R and having had a neck-snapping, g-force crushed ride in it the other day I'm hugely impressed, but lacking the best part of forty grand for the same model......

Met a guy at Santa Pod who was getting consistent 11's in his R33. He's had it 5 years and done over 100 drag races in it. It's also tuned to about
550-600bhp. He said it's never gone wrong. He recommended an R32 though "mechanically almost identical, but with a lighter body"I've heard about the clutches having a hard time from people carelessly making standing starts

bloke [1] near me bought an R32 from Middlehursts in St Helens about 5 years ago, lasted 3 days before he crashed it, waited 2 months to get it back, then lunched the motor a week later.
[1] utter wanker, previous cars were a Fiat Punto, a Cavalier Turbo [2], got his mother to remortgage her house so he could have a Skyline. [3][4] [2] with the transfer box lunched in it. Wasn't a good car. [3] finishing touch was he used to have the instruction book from Gran Turismo in the glovebox [4] now disowned by mother, he drives a R5 GT Turbo. Reckons it does 10 sec 1/4 miles.1/8 maybe

I've heard rumours of the R32 standard discs exploding under braking. And replacements from the factory for these wonder exploding discs cost a magical grand *each* Aftermarket discs may be better and cheaper me thinks.
F*ck me, really??? A grand for a disc???
Just trying to find out where I read/heard this.
