Me and my 205 Diesel and some chap in a red Cinquecento sporting - M74 Southbound between Bothwell and Moffat - on my way to see my granny one day about 3 years ago. We were pretty evenly matched up the hills, we took it in turns to go in front, may have touched 80 a few times on the downhill stretches. Great day that was.

The time before last time I came back from oop north.. me in my 620Ti along with a BMW 5-series and a Range Rover. I was using the BMW as a pace-car mainly and the Range Rover behind me, but we swapped around sometimes.. it's feels pretty cop-safe being in the middle when you're going around the ton mark :) Not too much traffic and must have been with them for most of the M6 part of Lytham-St.Annes to Oxford.. Journey distance / time = 200 miles /

2.5 hours.

Various. The young lady in the Cinquecento Sporting who just couldn't overtake me, dropped back going up hills, caught up on the downhill bits, and followed station on the twisty stuff, in the spring in the Yorkshire Moors. I think our arrival upon and subsequent overtake of a young chap in a BMW 3-series Compact caused him some upset. :)

The other day, going back to uni, i followed an Audi almost the entire way from Bridlington to Lincoln. It was noticeably quicker than my 405 (didn't help that i had my entire worlds possessions in the car :) ), it was some kind of sporty version in a fetching blue colour, A4, or S4 or RS4 or something like that, followed station with him all the way, we must have made about 20 overtakes :) Keeping up with him on the dual carriageway was tricky tho, and judging by the way he managed to slow for speed cameras his brakes were a lot better than mine as well! When we eventually came to go our seperate ways i ended up along side him waiting in the queue at the roundabout, i looked across, as did he, a little nod was exchanged, and we went our seperate ways.

Big chunk of the northbound M1 from the M25 junction, me in my Corrado and another guy in a BMW, prefer not to remember the speeds until we saw someone catching us up. Both slowed down just in time for a Police Volvo to pass us...

or the cheery folk who saw me pass a marked Saab stopped on the hard shoulder, at 130 then when they caught me up and I was doing 60 they still stopped me the miserable gits. ;-) No proof other than their eyes so I got to wave at all the cheery folk a second time.

Recent: Two weeks ago, A14 from Ipswich to A1 tracking precisely (cruise set well) a 5 series BM all the way - indicated 90.

Today - Goole to Hull (only 22 miles) covered in very little time (!) with a behind BMW and another volvo in front.

Couple of years ago - biggest laugh ever - M1 from M25 to Brent Cross, Me (Rover 75), BMW, Merc. Passenger commented we were showing 130 on clock, slowed to 90 towards end anda fiesta (!) joined in. Got to end and cops pulled the fester...

Hardly cameraderie, but...

Disgruntled look from 525i owner after failing to lose the Nova TD (me) for the duration of the M5, J6 to M5, J18. I always thought that he wasn't trying, but since then have found out that he probably was...and I was getting twice/three time his MPG (the whole run which was full length of M42 and M5 to Bristol clocked an average of

65mpg...)

Never did above 95 all the way, but this blue Nova Merit in his rear view mirror really bugged him!

Coming back from Villedieu-les-Poeles this morning.

Passed a French bloke and his missus on a Fireblade at about 110mph (he was doing something like 90mph), he immediately picked up the pace and followed us at anything up to 130mph through 10s of kms of fast sweeping bends, before pulling an overtake on me and giving a wave just before his exit.

Nice. Very nice.

Was a bit hairy at times - 2-up on my VFR with a fully loaded set of panniers, top-box and tankbag.

Me in my 33 16v, bloke in new Mini Couper 'S'.

Chased each other around several roundabouts in Milton Keynes, swapping places......

As we were coming up to the last stretch of dual-carriageway he pulled level, gave a 'not bad' gesture and outbraked me into the last roundabout.

A few miles later he gave me a wave and huge grin as he took his turn-off.

I think he was surprised at just how quick that s**te old Alfa was....

OK, all within/Arround the speed limit, but.

August, from Angelsey to the english border down the A55 coast road. Was at the Saab scene trackday, and heading home arround 3.30pm.

After driving from Angelsey to Bangor, I happened to notice a black C900 trubo pull onto the coast road. Looked over as passing, and it was only the guy with the well specced and modded T8 that had taken me round the track. Very quick car.

From Bangor to The english border, where he peeled off to head south, and I carried on over into Cheshire, we cat and moused all the way through, sticking to the speed limit, passing all sorts of stuff (especially on the uphill bits), taking turns to lead and overtake. Nothing showy, just two old Saabs breezing past much newer cars in convoy.

Driving home last night I remembered another - joined M180 from M1 northbound, F355 in front, Vectra V6 behind him, me behind them. Easily into

3 figures when we pass the A1.

I see the copper flying up to the slip, flash my lights then drop to lane 2 and indicated 85, Vectra does same. Fezza nails it, sounds great and zips of into the distance, then the blue lights come on....

He'd pulled ferrari further up, we sailed passed him. A sad moment really, obvious discrimination (although Ferrari driver should have been spooke by us dropping away so quick)

Believe what you like.

I'm not claiming to be Fangio (far from it). I'm just saying that he happened to be a pretty crap driver who, admittedly, probably didn't know the road as well as I do, and was also very surprisingly open to constructive criticism.
