Jesus dude that vid was old when I posted it here about 2 years ago heh :-) Great video though, well worth a re-watch.

Aye.

Technically the M5 is referred to in Russia as "my beast", I believe.

:)

It's the V8 M5, isn't it? Scarily quick machine, I'm fortunate to have borrowed one for a little bit.

Daft thing is, not only is it quicker than the majority of things you'll find on the road, its ride is firm but much more composed than you'd expect, the "feel" of the car is that it's small enough on the road such that you're tempted to exploit just a little of the performance... and it averages high

20s day to day driving.

My perfectly ordinary Accord averaged low 30s day to day driving.

That's what make the Audi look so impressive in this vid. The way it just storms away from the M5 as soon as it gets a gap. IIRC from reading the original forum thread the owners stopped and chatted and the Audi guy claimed 500bhp or something. Looking at that, he wasn't lying heh.

I took it the other way, that a stock M5 keeps touch despite a material power disadvantage. Oh and it doesn't shake your fillings out either! :-p

It keeps in touch only because of traffic conditions. On a clearer road or on a track, absolutely no chance.

Agreed, look at the lead it pulled out before it hit thick traffic, another

20 seconds and it would've been practically out of sight.

We'll never know.

Indeed, having watched the roadangel counting past 180 in a nicely modded RS4 (the full MTM job, >600bhp before hitting the red "arm" switch...) they are amazing. The ride quality, and size of the car does nothing for me though - I'd rather have the M5.

What ride quality? :-)

I'm with you on this. If I were to drive from London to Moscow and back, I'd take the M5. It's ride is remarkably supple.

Given the variable fuel quality on the eastern european side, I'd go for an old Merc Diesel.

Nah you've got this all wrong. I'd be in the M5 aiming for 40 mpg. You'd be in the tanker providing my slipstream. :)

But watching the video- the RS4 is massiv'ly faster than the M5....

And both are massively quicker than anything else.

I'd not take the Audi.
