I offered to service the Golf (at cost) as there's bugger all worse than going 500 miles to buy a car and it doesn't get you home.

Indeed, but there's no way I'm taking 400 quid for it. It's a bloody great car, in decent nick, reliable, and with loads of tax on.

I was going to go and see about trading it in against a Range Rover today, but the boss has nicked the Merc.
