Suggestions for a decent rolling road closest to Balham, London SW.

All I want is the ignition timing and fuel pressure set for maximum torque on a Rover SD1 EFI auto.

At what rpm?

Or all through the range? Because all through the range needs the exact ignition timing for every few hundred rpm, setting up!

AND the same applies to the fuel mixture. You can choose say ohhh 3250 rpm, and set fuel pressure to give the best torque here. But now it may be rich/weak or both everywhere else! So you really want a complete remap?

Now you need maybe 3 weeks of setup time if the guy knows what he is doing (most dont). Altering fuel pressure effects part throttle too, so now you need to remap every part throttle position as well at every rpm!

So if you find someone that says he can do this he either hasnt a clue or is just ripping you off.

EG advancing the timing, and lowering the fuel pressure might increase peak torque at x rpm. but it now may be over advanced everywhere else, and weak in lots of places that could damage your motor.

Think maximum torque is about 3500 rpm.

It's a standard engine - apart from a rising rate fuel pressure regulator. And it has a conventional distributor.

It can't be re-mapped. (Well, of course anything can with enough money).

Since it's basically a closed loop system, I'd just like it set up for optimum 'in the middle'.

Slightly advancing the ignition and upping the fuel pressure over the nominal 36 psi seems to improve things with Super Unleaded. But it would be so much easier to do with a rolling road and exhaust gas analyser.

I know thats why I built one!

I know there is one in caterham somewhere, but power engineering in uxbridge is probably your best bet
