No worries.

Don't tell me he's got a life to make up for the Pious?

Nah, a life ain't prestigious enough for him...

I think UseNet in general is not what it once was...

If you have a V8 going spare why waste it in a Punto? Won't give anywhere close to the same results as a V8 in the RIGHT car.

This car holds quite a few records, "Coupe with a flat head mill" Unblown Gas Altered Coupe XF/GALT record of 149.973mph and Unblown Gas Coupe - XF/GC 156.778mph in 2005 http://66.154.44.164/forum/showpost.php?s=323578b6a999b41d1f8f5afc3cca6867&p=1670620&postcount=23and also Unblown Fuel Altered Coupe E/FALT record of 235.890mph in2006

finding a Mazda 240SX is kinda hard!) Wanna crack at 330mph? Then dump the sub 140mph straight 8

pick this for next year's engine.http://www.stage6motorsports.com/s6_07_projects_fordgt_01.htmlHow much do those Ford quad cam V8's and a pair of GT4067R's cost? Will £50K get me anywhere close? GM Indy engine was $120,000 to Indyteams back in 2003.

After that just need 2200bhp for Mach 0.5, to slay that JCB smoker.

Nah, it has to be a lifestyle.

Ah but with 2 cans of Tannants Super and a bottle of Buckfast, you can lash one together in 5 minutes between mini cab runs and scrap yard weigh ins.

I think you're right, even in the last year or so it has declined so much. Too many alternatives these days; I started using it in 1991 and I think the only other choice for 'chat' was IRC or chat rooms which seemed to be based on MUDs? I never got into the BBS thing.

Hmm I guess not... hence starting this thread. I don't have a car or motorbike at the moment, I'm just counting down the months until we emigrate... and trying to bully/convince SWMBO that we should leave sooner than we are cos I'm bored of the UK.

Sorry to hear that dude.

'kinhell that's a bit cold but er, practical.

Mate you know what I'm going to say next... any equity you have in the house, bank it and use the interest to pay for a world tour. Costs f*ck all and is an amazing life changing experience :) When/if you come back there will be more jobs, cheaper houses and you can even think about trying to live in another part of the country!

Nah, I like the sound of the idea, but I'm going to find my own place=20 straight away.

Even started planning what I need to build a proper bar. Yes, just like every bachelor pad needs. Real ale on tap, proper wooden=20 top and optics on the back wall, and a bottle fridge.

Plus somewhere set up a practice boss. And I get the telly, so I've bought a bluray player, and going to get=20 Sky HD.

Travel I can do anytime as I get an =A3800 a year holiday voucher from one= =20 of our client, and it will go a little further this time when it is just=20 me. A world tour would be interesting, but I can't see myself doing it.

I wouldn't know.

Sounds like fun, good for parties :)

What's one of those?

Each to their own. There's nothing quite like unplugging completely for a while though. You can watch the world in HD on your telly instead :)

Usenet's been dying on it's arse for years now :(

This one is because the only people that find it expect it to be about modded cars... They read, dont get it and go to custom car groups etc.

What did you do to them?

A big fat foam or straw target to practice my archery. =20

Oh I agree, but I've just got to the point where I have some work=20 stability, a new hobby I enjoy etc.

I can switch off any time I want, but for now, I'm happy.

It's more to do with how the Internet is sold and accessed.

How many ISP's include USENET as part of the package? How many people that do have access have read the small print and found out how to use it?

That leaves Google Groups as the access. It's hard to find that button.

Spam has effectively rendered many groups useless.

Anyway all car mods these days are done by photochopping. I blame the schools they don't do metalwork, just CDT in mdf. I blame the kids they just sit in front of the console and play games, no practical skills needed. I blame the teachers, teachers, they failed to teach the current generation of teachers that practical skills are needed as much if not more than academic. I blame the politicians for demanding

50% go to university and then letting them do subjects that have no practical use. Media studies FFS = low grade retail management or pouring coffee on the GNER.

TBH I can get almost any VW specific technical info from ClubGTI's forums. OTOH the quality of banter (and English, including TdM's) here is far better. I enjoy the fact that there are people with a variety of motors on here too, and the odd chap with some serious technical knowhow. Whereas the chaps with serious engine knowledge on forums often seem to write everything in exceedingly long sentences, with no paragraphs, and generally wear you out...

Any modding content from me is likely to be slim in the near future as I've just been accepted for a Master's, and will need to hand over several grand, and might even go carless for 12 months...

I don't mind usenet, but it has slipped in the last few years in 'ere.

Twelve months of cupholders and tax bands meant I, for one, have checked this place a lot less regularly.

I think we need to have another gathering.

Congrats, good news is always welcomed.

Sad to hear it. However:

Buy two dishwashers. Saves all that mucking around with cupboards, one is always clean and as you use stuff you shift it to the other. When full turn it on..

Hope this helps.
