Hello guys,

just a quick one, Does anyone know what the valve tappert setting means?

Thanks.

Its the gap needed to allow for the valve stem to expand due to heat so it always closes properly, and to allow the oil film to recover. Obviously this only happens on the "heel" of the cam where there is no lift.

Did you hear about these from someone originating from the west country?

If your tapperts are noisy, it means your crank shaft is broken, probably due to your oil pump needing to be re-aligning. If I were you, I would go and see a mechanic very quickly, he may be able to insert a tartan rod into the follower and save your crankshaft. The other thing mechanics can do is fit some sky followers, that should also solve your problem!

I hope this is of some help to you Brian!

Kind Regards
