Van?

For anyone interested in what I now have to drive, its a VAN or if you prefer VWs "corporate people carrier" and its a bit bigger than the sharan etc. And its FWD which I hate.

But I needed to get something that could be converted for use with a wheelchair, with a side door lift, flat floor, hand controls, 6 way adjustable drivers seat etc after landing in a wheelchair a few years back...

Bit different from V8 powered nitrous Sierras, 300 bhp turbo nitrous drag bikes and the rest...

But its VR6 powered (2.8V6) has a fuzzy logic controlled (read crap) 4 speed auto box that is supposed to learn how you drive and decide if its a race or a shopping trip. It does that all right. You follow a car that you wanna pass for a mile and then theres a gap. Now because you go slow for a bit it starts changing gear early and is very reluctant to kickdown. Good job that ReaceLogic do a manual switch kit then!!! Thats that fixed!

The engines a smooth revvy thing with no power. Does about 120 flat out.

It also has passive rear wheel steering, traction control, Limited Slip Diff, cruise control, (essential) leccy windows, seperate air con/ climate control thingy for the front/rear, central locking, power steering, abs, tons of soundproofing, leccy mirrors, hand controls, chair lift, 6 way electrically adjustable drivers seat and a fridge for beer. And its built like a tank! Its now 7 years old and that photo was taken yesterday/day before. Its absolutely as new.

But its gotta go. I want rear drive bigger US van with V8 and rear drive (back to what I KNOW is better!) with full leather interior etc...

Anyway heres a piccy.

Everyone else knows it's better too, but as you say - in this case you've got to get an American model to get RWD. Bit of an extreme example, but it just illustrates what was being 'debated' in the previous threads - most people can't get RWD nowadays without having to compromise on the rest of the car.

Not everyone is willing to go to the length of buying someone that is going to be a great wallowing turd that handles like jelly just to get RWD... :)

You've never driven one of the big Yank vans then?

I drive a stretched Ford Excursion for a living as you know, and it's a bloody nice thing to drive. The unstretched ones would be a nice way to get about in. This thing still handles and it's 32 ft long.

I am, I will just fix it!

Yep. I used to be involved in nitrous systems and drag racing. Everyone drives us vans/trucks etc.

Do you have a pic to post?

You want a little blue invalid car like mine... ;p

A

How much are you asking (not that I can justify having another car/van) but I do fancy getting that and sticking one of the supercharger kits on it.

No I am not selling, just getting another! I have a big driveway... The VR6 supercharger kits are a straight bolt on, but as it is it does 20 to a gallon!

Yes I mean go as in I dont like driving it, and will replace with better for my main use! Rather than actually sell. I still have bikes and cars from years ago I dont use much anymore. Go was wrong word because I look after these things too well and this isnt a spam/selling post! Its only going to go as far as the other end of the drive! Eventually I might sell maybe, but its too "new" and shiny to sell just yet! I wouldnt get the money its worth because its "old" according to the book but absolutely as new and even smells new.. And as I dont need the cash it makes more sense to have a spare vehicle. I meant its got to be replaced as my daily toy because I hate front drive - but will still use it as utility transport, carers to drive, shopping trips etc.

Anyway what were you offering? All things are considered here I suppose!

no mate this is spam

Ah right, I get you now :)

My sister does the same, she lives in Dubai, buys a new car every year and keeps the "old" one in the underground garage. She says its not worth selling 'em cos no-one over there buys second-hand. She has a 1 year old Beetle and a one year old Mini as well as her Boxster now.

As for the brother-in-law, he has almost 20 cars, from a 50's beetle to a Merc SL.......

They make I sick.....
